I always thought Friedman was one of the best writers on the Middle East. I definitely agree with him on this article. Really wish we could start the withdrawal from Afghanistan. I don’t think there is anyway we can solve things there in 18 months if we have not been able to for the last 8 years.
Democracy cannot be pushed on a group of people from the outside by military force, it must come from within a country and grow organically.
